Saiyaara – Ek Troubled Musician Aur Ek Broken Poet (July 18, 2025 Release – REVIEW)

AmanReviews1 month ago50 Views

Doston, suno. Bollywood ka romance genre sirf “shaadi ke baad break-up” nahi hota. Sometimes, love is ek song jo aap likhte ho apne dard se, aur ek poet jo use padh kar kho jaati hai.

Saiyaara – Mohit Suri ki latest film – exactly yeh baat karti hai. Krish ek troubled musician, Vaani ek poet with a broken heart. Dono milte hain, music banate hain, aur love ho jaata hai.

Yash Raj Films ne July 18, 2025 ko release kiya aur reviews aa gaye – “This is one of the best romantic films of 2025.”

₹278 crore worldwide, second highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. Critics bol rahe hain – “A rare gem. Raw, romantic, aur real.”

Chalte hain, dekhte hain – kya special hai Saiyaara mein, aur kya aapke paise ka worth hai.

THE BEGINNING:

Saiyaara shuru hoti hai tragedy se. Vaani – pretty, introverted, writer type – apne boyfriend Mahesh ke saath court marriage ke liye ready hai. But ek phone call?

Mahesh bol jaata hai – “Main rich family ki ladki se shaadi karunga, toh career better hoga.”

Vaani faints, depression mein chali jaati hai, months isolate reh jaati hai.

6 months baad, woh apne aap ko rebuild karne laagi. Publishing house mein job pakdi.

Meanwhile, Krish – ek musician jo troubled hai. His mother died, father alcoholic, woh anger issues leke ghumta hai. Band mein kaam karte karte bhi kabhi kabhi journalists ke saath zyada aggressive ho jaata hai.

Lekin talent? Sab se zyada hai.

THE INTERVAL BLOCK:

Krish aur Vaani collaborate karte hain ek singer Prince ke liye ek song – “Barbaad.”

Jubin Nautiyal ki voice – beautiful.

Jab Krish aur Vaani practice karte hain, camera following – bike rides, beach walks, cricket playground (Krish ka safe space), late-night sessions. Editing tight hai, Devendra Murdeshwar aur Rohit Makwana – scenes long nahi, but intense.

Background score (John Stewart Eduri) – minimalist, letting dialogue aur silence speak.

And yes, the interval block was really emotional and sets the perfect stage for the second half and makes us curious as a audience.

What Could Have Been Cut/Improved

Interval block mein ek-do scenes slightly long lage. Jab Krish aur Vaani cricket khel rahe hote hain, woh 3-4 minute feel karti hai – 1-2 minute se kaam chal sakta tha. Material bagal mein tha, lekin editor thoda indulgent the.

Ek scene – Vaani’s parents ko Krish se suspicious – yeh scene slightly rushed tha. Family drama could have been explored better, lekin probably runtime ne rok diya.

THE CLIMAX BLOCK

Yes film philosophically strong ho jaati hai and emotional as well. Love kab selfish ban jaata hai? Sacrifice kab manipulation ban jaata hai? Do you stay with someone despite knowing you’ll both suffer?

Director Mohit Suri ne tragic ending nahi di hai but realistic-hopeful ending di hai. Sab thik nahi hai, lekin love remains – that was very unique ending.

What Could Have Been Added

Ek conversation between Krish aur Vaani – explicitly about their insecurities – must be added, I definitely think karna chahiye tha in climax.

MUSIC & ELEVATION – MITHOON, SACHET-PARAMPARA, VISHAL MISHRA KA POWER

The Soundtrack – Seven Songs, Each One Hits

Yeh film ke liye soundtrack ek character hi hai.

“Saiyaara” (Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, Arslan Nizami, Arijit Singh) – Title track – 6 minutes long, but nahi lagta long. Haunting, beautiful, philosophical.

“Dhun” (Mithoon, Arijit Singh) – Most understated song. Ek instrumental, ek vocal line. Simplicity ke through complexity express karta hai. Best songs karti hain exactly yeh – kehti kam, karti zyada.

“Humsafar” (Sachet-Parampara) – Elevating moment – when both characters declare their feelings through music. Classic Bollywood romantic elevation, but earned through narrative.

“Barbaad” (The Rish, Jubin Nautiyal) – Dark, broken, beautiful. About destruction of innocence.

“Tum Ho Toh” (Vishal Mishra) – Hopeful, yet fragile.

Female reprises – Shreya Ghoshal aur Shilpa Rao – adding another dimension to songs.

Background Score (John Stewart Eduri) – The Unsung Hero

Jab songs nahi chal rahe, background score subtly carry karti hai emotional weight. Yeh koi Hans Zimmer type dramatic score nahi hai – yeh intimate, personal score hai. Cricket scene mein – background music tells us Krish ke liye this place means home. Beach scene mein – music tells us freedom. Publishing house mein – music tells us loneliness.

Eduri understand karta hai – zyada music zyada emotional manipulation lagti hai. Usman ne restraint dikhaya – perfect.

Elevation Moments – Kya Music Works

Film ke major emotional moments – music perfectly time karti hai.

“Humsafar” ka concert scene – jab first time Krish stage par confidently perform karta hai – music swell hota hai, lekin natural lage.

“Saiyaara” ka climactic emotional moment – woh extended version play hota hai – pura 6 minutes – aur nahi cut hota. Original risk tha, lekin perfect execution.

DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY, EDITING, PRODUCTION DESIGN

Mohit Suri – The Emotional Craftsman

Mohit Suri ki previous films – Aashiqui 2, Kalyug – emotionally intense thi. Saiyaara sab kuch loud nahi, sirf important moments loud.

Camera placement – mostly intimate, close-ups. Wide shots rarely. Why? Kyunki film ke baare mein dono characters hain, duniya nahi.

Direction mein ek subtle element – Suri deliberately didn’t make Krish a hero. Woh flawed, angry, struggling musician hai. Yeh creative choice strong lagti hai.

Cinematography (Vikas Sivaraman) – The Storyteller

Vikas ne warm color palette use kiya – golds, ambers, soft blues. Film warm feels karti hai – comfortable yet intimate. Concert scenes mein professional light design, but restaurant scenes mein just ambient lighting.

Beach sequences – golden hour shooting – romantic yet realistic.

Production Design (Rajat Poddar, Laxmi Keluskar) – authentic. Krish ke tiny apartment – cluttered with music stuff. Vaani ke office – professional but cold. Settings speak about characters.

Editing (Devendra Murdeshwar, Rohit Makwana) – The Pacing

Film 156 minutes long, lekin slow feel nahi karti. Why? Kyunki editor ne scenes breathe diye – long dialogue scenes, lekin nahi drag karte.

Concert scenes – smartly cut. Action sequences (Aejaz Gulab) – minimal, but impactful. Love scenes – sensual, not gratuitous.

Slight issue – ek-do scenes mein unnecessary transition delay. Lekin overall pacing solid.

What Could Have Been Cut

Cricket playground sequence – 4-5 minute – mein 2-3 minute kaafi hote. Repetitive the slightly.

Vaani’s office scenes – pehli half mein overexplained tha uska character. Screenplay se khatam kar sakte the jaldi.

What Could Have Been Added

Krish ke father character – ek aur scene add hona chahiye tha. Reconciliation zyada deeper feel deta.

Vaani’s friends – kaash ek supporting character better developed hota for Vaani as well jo uska emotional anchor banti.

CAST PERFORMANCES – AHAAN PANDAY & ANEET PADDA (THE FRESH DEBUT PAIR)

Ahaan Panday As Krish Kapoor

Ahaan – pure debutant – explosive performance. Krish ka anger, vulnerability, tenderness – sab beautifully layered.

Angry scenes – convincingly aggressive, bot forced. Vulnerable scenes – Ahaan dikhata hai woh actor hai, not just pretty face.

Critics bol rahe hain – “A star is born.” Fair assessment. Ahaan mein presence hai.

Saiyaara Movie Review

Aneet Padda As Vaani Batra

Aneet – also debutant – quiet but powerful. Vaani ka introversion, gradual opening up – Aneet subtly communicate karti hai.

Poetry recitation scenes – Aneet deliver karti hai authentically. Uska expressiveness – mostly through eyes aur pauses, not through dialogue.

Critics appreciated – “Soulful, sincere performance.”

Saiyaara - Aneet Padda

Chemistry – The Slow Burn

Ahaan aur Aneet ka chemistry – “Slow burn that scorches when it does.” They don’t have typical Bollywood chemistry – mushy, constant eye contact. Instead, they have comfortable, understanding chemistry. Like two artists collaborating.

Supporting Cast

Varun Badola (Vaani’s father) – solid. Shaan R Grover (Krish’s best friend) – authentic. Small roles matter.

SAIYAARA – KON DEKHE, KON SKIP KARE

Watch if:

  • You appreciate fresh casting aur new acting talent
  • Music matters to you – Mithoon aur Sachet-Parampara fans
  • You want a film that stays with you after credits roll
  • 2.5 hours devoted to a good story – fine hai
  • You like Mohit Suri’s filmmaking style

Skip if:

  • You want light, breezy romance – yeh heavy, emotional hai

  • You prefer action-packed entertainment over dialogue/music-driven
  • You want typical “girl gets guy” ending
  • You haven’t seen Suri’s previous films (helpful context, not zaroori though)

Best Watched: Theater. Definitely theater. Cinematography, music, performances – sab big screen pe shine karte hain.

MY RECOMMENDATION: TIME IS MONEY – IS SAIYAARA WORTH YOUR 2.5 HOURS?

Stars: 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️

Breakdown:

  • Music/Elevation: 5/5 (Mithoon, Sachet-Parampara, Arijit Singh – perfect execution)
  • Direction: 4.5/5 (Emotional, restrained, beautiful – minor pacing issues)
  • Acting: 4.5/5 (Both debutants shine – chemistry earned, not instant)
  • Story/Emotion: 4.5/5 (Real, earned, beautiful – not manipulative)
  • Cinematography: 5/5 (Vikas Sivaraman – stunning visual storytelling)
  • Editing: 4/5 (Mostly sharp, slightly indulgent in 2-3 scenes)
  • Overall Impact: 4.5/5 (Stays with you, makes you think about love)

Final Word:

Agar aapko music pasand hai, agar aapko real emotional storytelling pasand hai, agar aapko fresh acting talent pasand hai – Saiyaara ek investment hai, nahi ek expense.

Runtime 2.5 hours – lekin drag nahin karti. Pura time engaged rakhti hai.

Yes, film mein heartbreak hai, heavy themes hain – lekin hope bhi hai, beauty bhi hai.

Verdict: Use your time wisely – if you love romantic cinema that respects your intelligence , do watch this.

LAST THING – KYA ZYADA EXPECT NAHI KARNI CHAHIYE

Expectations management: Yeh film exactly Aashiqui 2 level phenomenon nahi hai, lekin 2025 mein best romantic film definitely hai. Compare mat karo – appreciate karo uske apne terms mein.

Toh batao – Saiyaara dekhoge ya already dekh li? Aur agar dekh li, toh ending kaisi lagi? Sad ya beautiful? Comment mein batao – kaun sa song best laga, aur Ahaan-Aneet ka chemistry kaisa laga? Like, share, aur aapne dost ko bhi iss website ke baare mein batao for seeing movie reviews🎬❤️
